Nichols was a reporter for nine years with ESPN which was where she earned two Emmy Awards. Nichols was also a one of the networks' Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. The show drew millions of viewers from the whole world. Nichols worked as a journalist for TNT during this period, reporting on NBA broadcasts, including playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. Nichols also worked for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. It was only the second time in its 42-year history that a woman was selected from more than 200 nominations.
